Situated in the Western ‘suburb’ of Truro this
village used to be separated by farmland from the City. Mind you it’s not exactly Brixton! To get to the pub take the A390 ‘off slip’
heading West out of Truro and it’s on the left.
This has always been a good pub although modernised in recent
years. There is a large bar and two
large eating areas with a conservatory to the left and another small public
bar/pool room to the right. Parking is
outside to the right or the front. Stu 8/10 Dec 2000

Smashing thatched cottage right by the Fal river – this is a hidden gem. It has its own landing and boat for trips on
the river. A lovely beer garden,
barbecue area and beach as well.
Although there is no real ale, there is Warsteiner
Lager; which is acceptable and the pub does have a wonderful collect of single
malt whiskys’.
The bar is tiny – about 3 foot long (that’s 0.9 metres just in case you
did not know)! Its not open from October
to Easter, but on a hot summers day have a drink, take a boat trip to Falmouth
and back and then have another drink! Parking
is in the road leading to it from the King Harry ferry road (East side of Fal river). NB. This was constructed by the British for the
American forces before D’Day. Stu

One of the most westerly pubs you can visit. Situated near Porthcurno
and the Minack open-air theatre on the beautiful
Lands End peninsular. Nearby is the

which can be rocked by hand! This is a
great pub with a front and rear bar, a children’s room and a beer garden. Stu

Nice old granite exterior, but inside
the pub tries to be modern with a pool table and a dining room. Doesn't use the
tradition of the pub to its advantage. Nice place all the same, but could be

A very
difficult pub to find! Very pretty bar area in lounge with "beach

This old pub is just off the A30. At Kennards House
junction turn North and follow the old A30 running parallel with the new A30.
The pub is full of clocks - over 70. On
the hour they all ‘go off’! Lots of wood
and stone with two bars and a small restaurant area at the rear. Apparently the pub is haunted by a ‘friendly’
ghost. There used to be good food served
here, but my last visit was a disappointment.
The Thai curry I had was from a country called ‘Home Pride’ and the
Spring rolls were served with a sweet and sour sauce, which came from a tomato
sauce bottle! Note. Its now part of a
pub chain – Explains a lot! Otherwise
reasonable beer.

Take the road from the
A390 towards St.Mawes. This 16th Century building is
situated in the ‘ridiculously’ wide main street of this old ‘Rotten
Borough’. A large car park is at the
rear – watch the narrow passage though!
When I first visited this Inn in 1977, I remember a single large bar to
the right as you entered. The only
punter in the pub was the Vicar!
Although there is still a single bar at the back, there are now 4 rooms
including a pool room. The landlords,
Tim and Julie have turned this into a fine drinkers and eaters pub, with good
value food. Try the homemade grub. There are good facilities for families; which
are welcomed and a nice beer garden and play area for the kids. Two of Cornwall’s finest micros are on tap as
well! Stu
