At the bottom of the hill on the corner. This place was recently refurbished, but it retains character. It was a Saturday night and it was packed.  Stu 7.5/10 1997

A large pub in the centre of town. With lots of separate areas, so you can make a choice of where you like to drink. Visited late Sunday afternoon - pub was very crowded, mainly full of drinkers not diners.  John 7/10

Very large hotel on the main street with an impressive exterior. Large through-bar inside, divided into various areas. Lively landlord! Stained glass panels of swans are used as screens. Pine wood furniture at bar area. Drunken man at the bar singing "Trelawny"!       Sue 8.5/10  Aug 1997

3 Bottled conditioned real ales – including Skuppered 5.5% brewed by the Horsham Brewery.  Grolsh on tap.

Newly opened restaurant (July 2008) by Mad Dave the host and Chef.  It can be found on the Redruth – Helston road. Extensive range of excellent value British food served in the restaurant which has a lovely bar open to all.  During the day the adjoining café serves food for Poldark Mine visitors.  Entry is free.  The mine was used for filming of the 1970’s classic TV series  Poldark and photos of the characters can be seen on the walls.  Families are well catered for.  I recommend the seafood platter J

At the top of the hill on the west side of Widemouth Bay – pronounced ‘wid mouth’. Big car park at the front.  Obviously one for the tourist, with its large bars and disco.  But there is plenty of outside seating, with a beer garden and conservatory.  Stu 7/10 1999
