This is a nice pub on what used to be a busy road – well it was once a coaching inn on the old A39.  You enter a quaint country inn with seating to the left and right.  Straight ahead is a small bar, with a restaurant area to the rear.  In the winter it normally has a nice log fire burning.  Its changed hands several times in the last 5 years but its worth a visit.   Stu 8/10 Feb 2001

A pretty ex-coaching inn, with an interesting windowed entrance way, coal fire with lovely brass jugs and trays. Lovely paintings on walls, one of the pub, itself. A warm cosy atmosphere.  Sue Sept 98

Look at the inn sign as you drive into the car park.  The picture of a Giant Panda is due to the fact that bamboo for the pandas at London Zoo used to be grown nearby.  It has a fairly basic interior.  When I ordered food once, they had to go to the corner shop and buy it!  Even so it’s a friendly local.  Stu 5/10 1996

Pub very nice on the outside, in a pretty village. The inside is a real let down. Pub doesn't seen to have anything going for it.  John 5/10 Nov 98

Not very taken with this pub too much for locals. Photos of pandas on wall. Too many children running around unsupervised for my liking and a pool area intrudes into pub. Shame, because its set in a nice village. Complete redecorating and redesigning in order, I think.  Sue Sept 98

The most southerly pub on the mainland.  The pub is on the village gren near where the bus stops. The T1 bus from Truro will take you there but it takes 11/2 hours from Truro ! Lovely pub serving 3 reals ales, and the food looked good.  There is a pool room adjoining the main bar and a separate dining area.  This is the only pub in Lizard village and has been here since it was converted from a farm house 200 years ago.  Now run by the Greenslade family for the last 50 years.  The walls are adorned by watercolours and photos of shipwrecks.  Our trip back to Helston was quicker as Morwenn and Tom (the fastest orange juice drinker in the West !) dropped us back there in a car.  What good friends!

Stu 8.5/10 March 2004

Nice low beamed pub of character on the Lizard village green.  Various plaque and photos of the local life boat and crew around the pub.  Different drinking areas with a lot of food being served.  Nice real fire for the winter.  Thanks to Morwenn and Tom (a young drinker in the making ?) for being such good drinking companions and making it a worthwhile visit.

A modern pub specialising in discos for the younger set.    Its OK but not specifically designed for the drinker.  Stu 5/10 1996

It used to be very much a young people's disco pub, for the last few years has become more family orientated pool pub with evening entertainment. Was not impressed by children being there so late, and not well supervised. Hope situation improves, as this pub has gone up in my estimation in recent years. Very large floor area now used for pool and karaoke, with raised upper area suitable for viewing.  Sue 8.5/10 visit Sept 2001

A nice pub, which is a little on the small size. Gets very crowded in the summer, like most Looe pubs. Low ceiling, flagstone floor and beams add to the atmosphere.  John 7.5/10 visit Sept 2001

Again, the atmosphere of this pub has changed over the years. Currently reasonably quiet locals pub, though in the past has been more touristy. Pub itself unchanged for as long as I remember single bar with alcove area. No
food emphasis at the moment, though used to be Food - orientated. Better if uncrowded, as the bar is small, as with the Fishermans Arms. Also, as with the Fishermans old stone walls remain. Wood panel decor, with red
furnishings. Atmosphere not always as friendly as it is now.  Sue 7.5/10 visit Sept 2001

Once upon a time there was this pub in Looe called the Double Decker’s.  Whilst its patrons will admit its not the greatest pub in the world, it did have a lot of character and had a great 70s rock jukebox which brought in old hippies and bikers for miles around.  So everyone (in the pub) was happy. Then along came the big bad brewery realising they had a big pub in a popular seaside town and decide to turn the Double Decker’s into a upmarket yuppie bar.  Because they spent so much money on the new posh dιcor they now expect the customers to gratefully pay their new higher prices!  Lets hope there will be happy ending, but I think not.

The Double Deckers is always a favourite with me because of the excellent jukebox and friendly atmosphere. The jukebox still has the same songs as 20 years-ago; heavy rockers paradise! Not a pretty place but full of character! visit Aug 97 mouse mark 9.

Since the last visit it has been totally 'yuppified' lost the jukebow and has no clientele. Totally destroyed the atmosphere. A great shame. visit Oct 00 mouse mark 5   Sue 2000

Formely known as Double deckers, this upper/lower bar pub is one I have known with affection for years for its classic jukebox and great atmosphere. However the upper bar is now a ' nightclub ' and has lost its jukebox! The
Lower bar ( which was unremarkable in the past ) has now installed handpump and is a much more credible pub than it has been in the last years! One to watch in years to come?

Sue 7.5/10 Sept 2001

Better than the last time i visited! The lower bar has Real Ale and passable decor now. The upper bar is a seperate nightclub bar open until 01-00.

One of the oldest pubs in Looe dating back to 1611.  Cosy atmosphere, but can be too cosy at certain times! If you can't see through the door don't bother! Turn off the A30 at Crowlas onto the B3309.  Up the hill a ‘bit’ and on the right.    This was once one of the closest pubs to me.  Stone walls and a couple of bars.  John and me once had a game of darts here against the regulars.  Amazing how bad you get after a few beers!  Stu 7/10 1998

This pub should really be called the New Inn, because inside its very modern and plasticky. Come to think of it St Austells have a lot of pubs called The New Inn which are old. You can't get comfortable in a pub if you are uncomfortable with the decor.  (Old Chinese proverb - Stu) John 6/10

In contrast to its name, I thought the decor in this pub was too new looking, rather cheap and plasticky. Friendly landlord though.  Damaged furniture could do with replacing and general improvements would be an idea.
