Beautiful old granite pub in the little village of Blisland – The only village in Cornwall with a village green. Small bar as you enter with great range of real ales.  Family room at the back and a pool room.  Another bar to the right of the front door as well.  Good quality home cooked food available.  This is the Camra National Pub of the Year 2001!  The bar man was slow but friendly.  He did not know what a donner kebab was – HE HAS NOT LIVED! Plenty of parking.  Stu 9/10  May 2001

Pub which was CAMRA pub of the year for 2001. Which it deserved for its ever changing ranges of beers, and clearly marked prices on the handpumps.  But not for its bar service.  On the day we visited the barman didn't know which beer was which and messed up our food order.  Nice cosy interior and a good family room.

The name of the street sums it all up.  Travel back to 1971.  No real ale, plastic everywhere, patterned carpets and closed on Sundays.  Know what I mean!  Stu 1/10  1999

Pub, which was closed on our first visit.  We didn't know how lucky we were! Pub would only seen attractive, if the alternative was a pub-crawl of Baghdad!  John 4/10 Nov 98

A locals pub in the centre of Bodmin high street. Was closed on our first visit. Dog tried to offer us a beer mat! Nice beer courtyard at the back. But rather basic furniture inside-not very attractive. Sue Sept 99

Situated right beside the Camel Trail, its called ‘halt’ because the trail was once a railway line to Camelford.  Closed long ago by Beeching, it is now used by walkers and cyclists.  Great pub with plenty of parking.  Very good food and Sharps Beer from the nearby micro.  There is a lot of seating inside with three separate areas which are all rather large.  Walk to Wadebridge and even Padstow if you are really adventurous afterwards.

New pub built in 1988.  The last time we visited the Landlord was moving on the next day!  Large, disco type of pub with wood walls and floor.  Not sure what to make of it all?  Stu 6/10  1998

Large disco type pub in the town centre, which we visited early Sunday afternoon. Had a 'the morning after' feel to it. Lots of space to sit in, not cosy or rexaling but a okay place. John 7/10 Nov 98

A very large pub with a dance floor with a band area and large viewing screen. Separate area with rows of dark wood tables. Walls decorating in beige and mauve, imagine this pub would be crowded in the evenings, but felt a little 'lost' in it when nearly empty! Friendly landlord said the pub was going to be let to a tenancy soon. Interesting black varnisled stove in ingle nook. Sue  Sept 98

Small pub up a hill from the town centre. Very much a locals pub but not unfriendly to strangers. Cheese on the bar Sunday lunch time (A nice touch Stu) .  John 7/10 Sept 98

Again, a locals pub. Nice bar with locals sitting along and a cute white fluffy dog. Small bar area with tapestry of boats and harbour on wall. Red furnishings and white walls with 'fake' beams on ceiling. Cheese and pickles on bar a nice gesture for locals. Sue Sept 98

Situated in a pedestrianised street in the town, I have been here many times for lunch.  The pub is deeper than its wide but very cosy inside.  Sitting area at the front, then a narrow bar and at the rear a seating section for dining. It gets very busy at lunchtimes.  Stu 8/10  Nov 1998

Pub very different from its St Austells neighour ( Cornish Arms ). This is very traditional with paintings, stone walls and a warm fire, which makes for a cosy atmosphere. A country pub in a town centre.  John 8/10 Nov 98

Friendly locals pub with warm atmosphere and a roaring fire. Real stone walls and interesting paintings of 19th century Cornwall. Polished wood tables in 'sectioned off' areas. Unusual collection of clocks! Bar area well lit Sue Sept 98

A tourist trap full stop.  Pub immortalised by a Daphne Du Maurier novel which has change out of all recognition since she wrote about it. I can not remember her writing about a gift shop complex or restaurant, but  might be wrong! . On the plus side there are still some old parts of the pub left, lets hope the owners don't want to put a games room there. Place where you feel more at home drinking cream teas than beer.

Pub at the top of the town which isn't so tourists orientated as the other two pubs in the Boscastle. A nice genuine old whitewash pub. A little small, but full of locals at the bar who add to the atmosphere. John 8/10

The inn is at the top of the town, with very attractive plants outside. Interior nice, with dark furniture in the lounge and a friendly locals bar.  Sue Aug 1997

Victorian pub in a Victorian seaside town. Big pub which is aimed at the holidaymakers and has a lot of things to amuse them. We visited on a typical English summers day (it was raining) so the pub was very crowded.

John 7/10

It was raining in Bude today, but a pretty harbour area and cliff walk. Pub is on main street, opposite river. Dark wood beams in bar area and attractive red lamps. A very large pub full of many foreign tourists. I thought the pub would be nice in the evening if it did not get too packed.  Sue Aug 1997

Known locally as the ‘Trelly’ just like the local hospital in Truro, it’s a fine pub serving 3 real ales. (Unlike the local hospital in Truro.)  A separate pool room to the left of the bar and a separate restaurant area as well.  The food is very good and children are welcome.  Stu 8/10 March 2006

If you visit the Eden Project, this is the nearest pub.  At the crossroads of the A391 in the middle of town.  Park at the back.  The pub is traditional inside with one large bar and pool table.  Stu 6/10 Nov 1998

Large granite pub at a crossroads. Nice atmosphere, the punters seen to be mainly elderly people coming in for there Sunday lunch. Nice dιcor and a cosy feel to the place. John 7/10 Nov 98

A friendly locals pub with a huge rug like white dog that took a liking to me! A strange country radio programme was on!  Cheerful and well lit lounge bar, with a pool room next to it. Bottle collection and old photos on walls. Dark wood and red furnishing. Sue Sept 98
